Privacy Policy
Effective August 2026 · Divecut, by Motley Beaks Inc.
Divecut does its work on your device, and keeps working without an internet connection. Your footage stays where you put it. This policy describes the little data that exists and where it goes.
Your footage
- Divecut never uploads, copies, or rewrites the contents of your video and photo files. It references them in place and stores only its own catalog (thumbnails, ratings, detected metadata) locally on your device. Batch rename changes a file’s name when you ask it to, and nothing else.
- Search is powered by an on-device machine-learning model. Your footage and search queries never leave your device.
Usage statistics
From version 1.0.4, Divecut sends anonymous usage statistics so we can tell which features are used and where the app fails. This uses Google Analytics for Firebase. You can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy › “Share anonymous usage statistics”.
- What is sent: which features were opened, how often an import was refused by the free plan’s limit, the Log formats and codecs we detected, and failures that did not crash the app. Counts are sent as ranges, not exact numbers.
- What is never sent: your footage, thumbnails, file names, folder paths, volume names, or search terms.
- Firebase also receives a device identifier, your IP address, and your operating system and app version. The IP address is used to derive an approximate region. See Firebase’s privacy information.
What we don’t collect
- No account is required and none exists.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or the contents of your files.
- We use no advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. To validate purchases, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and your purchase receipt — never your footage or personal identity. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Local network
The optional DaVinci Resolve integration runs a server that listens only on your own machine (localhost), protected by an authentication token. It is not reachable from the network and transfers nothing outside your computer.
Support email
If you email us, we keep the correspondence to handle your request and nothing else.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
